The cost of having a wedding these days is getting totally out of control. The typical price of a wedding is in the five figures. This cost is totally out of the question for most parents; therefore, many couples are opting to have smaller weddings and making many of the arrangements and details themselves. Today, it is not unheard of for a guest to provide the wedding cake as their wedding gift to the bride and groom.Flowers are usually done by friends or an in-home business, rather than a large florist and the wedding favors are usually made by hand. Making wedding favors saves the couple lots of money. There are hundreds of ideas on making wedding favors from very elaborate to very simple. Many times, the buying and making of the wedding favors are done by a guest or family member and then given to the bride and groom as their wedding gift.
Creativity Helps
If the decision has been made to make the wedding favors, than a plan has to be put into action as to what type of wedding favor will be made and what materials need to be purchased to put the favors together. If you are having a themed wedding, then the favors need to reflect the theme. Some easy and simple methods in making wedding favors are nuts, mints or candy in a small pretty container.Paper flowers are wedding favors to make. Photographs of the bride and groom in pretty frames are another idea. Making these wedding favors only involves decorating the frames and then inserting the photograph. A single rose or carnation tied with a ribbon is another good wedding favor to make. The only labor in this wedding favor is the tying of the ribbons. Of course, you can get more elaborate in making your wedding favors and create small flower arrangements for each guest.
This is a little more time intensive, but the result is lovely. If someone your wedding party embroiders or crochets, than the making of the wedding favors can take on a very personal touch. A small Christmas ornament with a personal message is another great idea for a seasonal wedding favor that you can make yourself. Any type of homemade food is always appreciated as a wedding favor, as well. There are many creative ideas for making your wedding favors, but the more creative you are, the nicer and more appreciated your wedding favors will be.
